2a perform Mr Skellybones

December is often a great time to take children to the theatre. We did it the other way round. 2 a invited their parents to their presentation of a musical, Mr Skellybones

Our Mr Skellybones was actually Mrs Skellybones and she asked her friends the Skellytones to teach “children” something about her body. No one stayed still on the stage for long. There were movements to learn and dances to remember, too. We had great fun rehearsing the Skeleton Rock. How long did it take us all to move right and then left at the correct time! We won’t answer that question!

The “children” in our musical were brightly dressed in contrast to the black and white Skellytones. At the beginning they were shocked to see Mr Skellybones, with arms and legs like sticks of macaroni. Was that really what is inside our bodies, they asked themselves? Good thing that we sang about hands, fingers, arms, feet, the tummy, heart and brain, too. We got to find out a great deal about the human body, and the musical ended with the recommendation that we go and buy a book about anatomy.

Congratulations to all the children who managed to learn all the song texts and their own spoken text – and, of course, to those children who knew not just their own text but everybody else’s too!
